It's not only the resolution flexibility, HBAO and better anisotropic filtering, but the locked View Distance setting on PS4 is actually equivalent to 0% on PC, or quite possibly even less. The conclusion is that, as per usual, if you have the machine to back it up, Dying Light looks better on PC. While we would have loved to compare the Xbox One edition as well, we unfortunately only were only able to capture footage from these two releases. It should be noted that the PC screenshots are from Dying Light running maxed out and at 1080p. The narrative and character development aren't Days Gone's greatest strengths, but for a lonely, often exhilarating road trip with plenty of scenic views, it's one to check out. While we're eagerly running through Dying Light for review, we put some time aside so that we could compare the performance and visual fidelity from a couple of the versions. We took thirty screenshots from Dying Light's PlayStation 4 and PC versions and compared the two. Surviving hordes will require stealth, ammo-conservation, and often melee combat, just as traversing Days Gone's desolate Oregon trails requires finding gas and re-fuelling your motorcycle. Rarely will you interact with NPCs on the open road, and when you do they're of the pale-faced, empty-eyed, and decaying kind. If you fancy yourself the latter, Days Gone offers a solely single-player zombie adventure with an immersive open world to explore and plenty of fun ways to take down zombies, aka "Freakers." In that way, Days Gone is an eerily isolated experience, at least mechanically - it's just you and your motorcycle, which you can upgrade and customize to your liking. There are two types of survivors in the zombie apocalypse: the teammate and the lone wolf. One of my favourite features is the permadeath mechanic, which leaves you controlling a new survivor each time you die, with all of your - sometimes essential - loot on your now zombified corpse for you to track down and take back. For example, you need to look down at the second screen to shuffle through your inventory in real-time, which shifts the main screen down as well and leaves any approaching infected out of view until you exit the inventory screen.īut you definitely don't need to buy a Wii U to enjoy Zombi, as the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions offer the same inventive, resource-driven, and genuinely challenging survival-horror experience, but with a deeper polish. I would personally recommend playing on the Wii U, as that version makes excellent use of the console's gamepad to add tension. If you're in search of a more traditional, even old-school approach to Zombie horror, look no further than Zombi, an intensely atmospheric and clever callback to Ubisoft's 1986 original and the international title for 1978's Dawn of the Dead. State of Decay 2 is a zombie survival game that makes you think about how to tackle each problem, and think even more about how your decisions might impact the trajectory of the story. What State of Decay 2 lacks in varied, creative combat, it makes up for with rewarding systems, management progression, thoughtful decision-making, and a narrative with an impactful sense of reward and consequence. And it's all about as hard as it sounds, so turn to State of Decay 2 when your management skills need a fine-tuning after the mindless slaughter of Dying Light. Here, you'll develop settlements, build and take care of communities, and make difficult choices to maintain your favourable position at the top of the food chain - not to mention survive against hordes of zombies with gnashing, undead teeth. State of Decay 2 might be the closest thing to actually surviving in a zombie apocalypse without introducing the T-virus in real life. Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S Assembling a team made up of the right variety of classes - of which there are 10 - could make the difference between climbing atop a mountain of your defeated enemies in triumph, and being swallowed by them. It doesn't deal solely in chaos though, as Killing Floor 2 also requires good teamwork. Killing Floor 2 is a co-op horde shooter that takes the most crowded, frenzied bloodbaths of Dying Light 2 and makes an entire game out of them, except here you're clearing through waves of mutant, failed science experiments called "specimens" instead of traditional zombies - in short, Killing Floor 2 is metal as hell. And with a name like Killing Floor, you can safely bet you'll come out the other side bloodied, a dripping sawblade bolted to your helmet, and a gleeful grin spread across your face. Dying Light isn't a game that always demands calculated strategy, but Killing Floor 2 downright discourages planning in favour of fervorous, blood-splattered slaughter.

These descriptions have also been updated and enriched in the latest 2024 version. If you work with the presets in DxO FilmPack you also have available the description of every preset so you know how it was created and how you can use it before applying it. In the latest edition, the previous versions of the presets have been updated and substantially enhanced to cover a wider range of images and to create a more expressive image of the specific concept. In addition, you also have 24 NEW presets for PhotoLab, for a total of 48 presets for PhotoLab and FilmPack. The new extended version of the series adds 19 new presets to the existing 5, so now the series has 24 presets for DxO Film Pack. The presets in their simple version (the original series of 5 presets) were launched in 2014 and included in the Elite version of the DxO FilmPack plug-in. You can keep exploring and experimenting with them and you can see them as a starting point in your post-processing workflow, giving you ideas about how to work on your image to create a result that is as close as possible to your vision. But you don’t need to stop after applying them. The presets are powerful and can create outstanding images. These presets can be a tool giving photographers a straightforward modality of exploring different looks and moods for their image without needing to invest a large amount of time in this process. The intention behind creating these presets was to make a series of fine art black and white and color presets that can be used as a quick way of creating fine art photography using the DxO software, alone or combined with Lightroom or Photoshop. Like all of the Seatruck modules, the Aquarium Module can be moved around manually using the grab-bar on the roof. As well as edible fish, the module is also capable of capturing Penglings. The Aquarium Mobile is indiscriminate in what it picks up and has no "off" state: it will continue to draw in nearby fish until both sides are filled. Access to the aquariums is provided by a pair of small doors on the sides of the module towards the front, which allows the player to remove or add fish to the tanks. These have an 2×8 capacity and can collect any single-slot aquatic species except the Noot Fish, functioning like the Aquarium the player can build in a Seabase. The Aquarium Module allows the player to collect nearby creatures and stores them inside of the two transparent aquariums on its sides. Captured creatures are visible in the aquariums on the sides. Combining all the modules together creates a massive, bus-like submarine capable of traversing Planet 4546B with style. The Aquarium Module allows the player to collect nearby creatures and stores them inside of the two transparent aquariums on its sides. The Seatruck Aquarium Module is a Seatruck module that collects any small Fauna that come too close to the module. The Aquarium Module captures nearby fish, the Docking Module allows for the Prawn Suit to be docked, the Fabricator Module contains a fabricator, the Sleeper Module has a bed and jukebox, the Storage Module has five storage containers, and the Teleportation Module has a tool allowing players to teleport back to The Seatruck. Each module provides players with a new feature for the submarine. Six more modules can be built and attached to the cabin. The Seatruck Cabin is not the only module players can build for the vehicle. Open the Mobile Vehicle Bay menu, go to the vehicle tab, and build the Seatruck using titanium ingot, an advanced wiring kit, two glass, three lead, and a power cell. The Mobile Vehicle Bay will float to the water’s surface, allowing players to board it and build vehicles. After the Mobile Vehicle Bay has been created, players can launch the bay into the water. The Mobile Vehicle Bay is made by combining titanium ingot, lubricant, and a computer chip. First, players must use a fabricator to create a Mobile Vehicle Bay. Once players have located all three Seatruck fragments, they will be ready to start fabricating the items needed to construct the Seatruck Cabin. The fragments seem to spawn around the 100-meter depth mark, but can be located at various similar depths depending on the spawns. The Seatruck fragments will be clustered not too far from each other. Drop into the water below and circle the Thermal Spires in a counterclockwise pattern. Around the 400-meter mark, players should see the Thermal Spires underneath them in the water. Starting at the drop pod location, swim about 400 meters directly south of the drop pod. The fragments can be easily located within a few minutes. While there are many benefits to using the Seatruck, players must remember it requires energy derived from Power Cells, so it is important to keep some on hand when using the underwater vehicle.īefore building the Seatruck, players must locate the vehicle’s three fragments to unlock the blueprint for the Seatruck Cabin. The Seatruck is obtained in Subnautica Below Zero by scanning three Seatruck fragments with the handheld scanner, which’ll get you the crafting recipe. Not only does the Seatruck allow players to move faster in the water, but it also supplies oxygen to the player while they are inside it. The Seatruck allows players to traverse the alien planet’s waterscape with ease. You can also define how you interact with the tools, and set the behaviors for line creation and editing. It features a new woven fabric pattern design (making it one of the more slick-looking drives on the market), comes in three different colors in capacities of 1TB or 2TB and boasts better performance compared to previous generations. Though we would have liked to see them double the maximum capacity to a 4TB model, the new Slim still has a lot to offer. The Seagate Backup Plus Slim is the latest model in the company's portable drive line. The Ultra Touch gave us 114 IOPS read and 47.4 IOPS write, and the LaCie had 117.6 IOPS read and 49.1 IOPS write. In comparison, the Ultra Touch recorded 41.6 IOPS read and 17.7 IOPS write for the LaCie and the Seagate had 17.4 IOPS read and 14 IOPS write.įor our 4K test, the Slim measured 308.99 IOPS write and 115.46 IOPS read. With 2MB random transfers speeds, the Slim recorded 40.12 IOPS read and 50.047638 IOPS write. The Ultra Touch had sequential reads of 41.9MB/s and write of 28.1MB/s compared to the LaCie’s 134MB/s read and 41.9MB/s write. In our 2MB sequential test in Windows, we again saw virtually identical read and write speeds with 125.09MB/s read and 125.34MB/s write. For the comparables, the Ultra Touch drive gave us 123.3MB/s read and 122MB/s write compared to the LaCie’s 135.7MB/s read and 118.5MB/s write. In BlackMagic, the Slim showed almost identical read and write performance with 119.5MB/s read and 119.5MB/s. We will be comparing the recently reviewed LaCie Mobile Drive 2TB and the Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Touch. To test the speed of the Seagate Backup Plus Slim, we used the BlackMagic disk speed test on a current generation MacBook Air as well as a Lenovo ThinkStation 920 for Windows testing. It also fits nicely in a normal sized pocket. That said, it comes in three slick-looking colors (black, silver and light blue) and features a textured metal finish that has a nice, solid feel when you carry it around in the palm of your hand. And though these numbers indicate that it’s slightly bigger than the 2014 model (we’re talking no more than 1 or 2 millimeters for each dimension) it is a tad bit lighter. Windows 7 or higher, or Mac OS X 10.11 or higher operating systemĪt just 4.5 inches long, just over 3 inches wide and half an inch thick, the Slim is a very portable device. Seagate Backup Plus Slim Specifications Interface The Seagate Backup Plus Slim comes with an 2-year warranty and goes for roughly 55 and $70 for the 1TB and 2TB models, respectively. So if this is something you’ve been looking for in an external drive, this is a huge plus. You can use this app at no cost, however, the premium version (which is included with the Slim) increases the amount of managed devices you can have and supported images, and allows for RAW image editing. The former is a centralized app for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android that manages your files (including photos) from all your devices and online services (e.g., Facebook and Instagram). One of the new additions to the Backup Plus Slim is a bundled 1-year Mylio Create and 2-month Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plans. Nonetheless, the new Backup Plus Slim is built with a new modern design, supports the both USB 3.0/2.0 connections and works right out of the box with Windows and Mac systems.Īs far as performance goes, Seagate does not mention any expected transfer rates, which seems to be the norm now with any non-SSD storage solution. Seagate unfortunately did not include any new capacity models this time around, which is a bit disappointing, as we haven't seen an increase since it was first released. We first reviewed the Slim way back in 2014 and found it to be an excellent portable solution with great management software and a very affordable price. Seagate has released another update to their Backup Plus Slim portable hard drives with new 1TB and 2TB versions. Nonetheless, the new Backup Plus Slim is built with a new modern design, supports the both USB 3.0/2.0 connections and works right out of the box with Windows and Mac systems. A tandem tube ride and four stories of fun. There’s an 11‑mode, MIDI‑sync’able, three‑octave arpeggiator, and new keyboard modes. There are also four invertible HASDR contour generators with three triggering modes, seven selectable destinations and independent velocity sensitivities, and four LFOs with a host of new features including nine destinations, a programmable sample & hold mode, various triggering modes, a one‑shot contour mode, and both mono and poly modes. The chorus has four modes derived from the AX73 and AX60, plus a width control. The VCF retains audio‑frequency FM but now offers three modes (LP/BP/HP) and three cutoff slopes, and there’s an additional 6dB/oct LPF to help mould the overall tone. Each oscillator now offers waveshaping of all five waveforms and has a square‑wave sub‑oscillator. Happily, Martinic’s AX73 reaches far beyond the original. Furthermore, the AX73 suffered from some serious shortcomings, perhaps worst of which was that it still relied upon audio tape as its patch storage mechanism. Given what was on offer, it should have been a better synthesizer than it was, but the similar AX60 was easier to use and had a nicer sound, and the more advanced VX600 was streets ahead. There was portamento, an LFO provided modulation, and dual ADSR contour generators could be directed in two modes to the VCO, VCF and VCA. Following this, the signal then passed to a velocity‑sensitive VCA and a dual‑mode chorus. Each voice was based upon a single VCO and noise, followed by a velocity‑sensitive, resonant 24dB/oct low‑pass filter and a simple 6dB/oct high‑pass filter. It offered six voices that could be played as a single six‑voice patch, as a three‑note, dual‑voice but monotimbral layer, or as a six‑oscillator unison monosynth, the last two of these with detune to thicken things up a bit. The original keyboard was one of a small series of instruments that Akai designed using the CEM3394 ‘synth on a chip’. Avoiding the mainstream, they have so far concentrated on unusual instruments and effects such as the Elka Panther, the Kee Bass and the LEM tape echo, and their latest offering shares this philosophy, being a soft synth based loosely upon the Akai AX73 synthesizer. You may not have come across the chaps at Martinic as yet, but they’ve been writing plug‑ins for a while, both for their own brand and for other manufacturers. Martinic take Akai’s long‑neglected AX73 ball and run with it.
